Here is what some of our past Fellows think about the programme

Noelle Aryanyijuka

CEO, EcoSmart Uganda Ltd

The human-centered design fellowship provided a real-life experience of working with a client and working alongside them to apply human-centered design to their design needs.

The fellowship created a network of 15 human-centered designers and working with individuals from different countries was beneficial and validated my dream to work across the globe. It was also a starting ground for me to pursue a career in product design and thereafter, I consulted with a well renown incubation hub in Kampala (Outbox Uganda) and am currently pursuing my masters in product design at Brunel University London.

Ezinne Aso Eke

Public Health Analyst, Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc

The CcHUB design fellowship was an experience I am grateful for. Today some of the skills I gained from the fellowship have proved useful in my career.

Okechukwu Amako

The fellowship was very immersive and hands-on which inspired me to take the lead on several aspects of my tasks in the project

Martins Iyekekpolor

HCD Project Manager, Co-Creation Hub

The Design Traineeship opened me up to such curiosity that I am now always knee-deep searching for insights and creating solutions with people across communities in Africa and the world as a Human Centred Design Expert. I am grateful for the warm beginning I had as a Design Trainee, now I am deliberately designing my life forward.

Alex Agba

CcHUB Design Fellowship Program was fun, exciting and life-changing experience for me. The working ecosystem made me open, informed, inspired and above all, it boosted my creative confidence.

I learnt about HCD which has given me the ample opportunity to tackle complex challenges using design thinking mindsets including empathy. The blend of fellows from different backgrounds was extraordinary. On a personal note, the interactions I had with everyone at Design Lab was the most significant aspect of the program. I hope to come back and work for CcHub one day.

Kehinde Muraina

Service Delivery, SRMNCH, Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc.

The HCD fellowship has been one of the best professional capacity development training I have participated in in recent times. We had the best type of didactic, in-person, and practical learning experience. It really gave me the much-needed career transition from clinical laboratory medicine into the world of technology and design.

The experience has been second to none via the 5-months traineeship component I had with HSDF- I had firsthand experience of developing top-tier solutions in the areas of maternal, newborn, and child health in Lagos, Nigeria. The fellowship is a must for anyone who wishes to steer the course of solution development to the teething problems present in the African and global ecosystem.

Esosa Asabor

Creative Director,

It was an intense yet interesting learning experience. I met very amazing and passionate people and got to interact with many great minds. It was also lovely getting to explore Kigali and learn about a new culture in the process.

Why Design Fellowship?

There is an urgency in addressing the myriad of challenges in Africa and it is important to adopt approaches that provide the opportunity for better outcomes and improved equity. The continuing challenges in Africa require home-grown solutions that are developed as a result of the joint participation of the people, stakeholders, and designers that have a unique understanding of context and culture.

There is a need for talent in design thinking. This fellowship is for graduates from any discipline with an interest in building a career in design; and with the increasing interest in the role of design and innovation in solving some of the biggest development challenges and systemic problems in Africa, the fellowship will focus on incorporating HCD in the development of innovations that will lead to a better society.
