Peter Bamkole

Director, Enterprise Development Services (EDS)

Peter Bamkole pioneered the Centre for Enterprise Development Services (EDS) of the Pan-African University, a model which is currently being replicated in four African countries. As the director of the Centre, he is responsible for the overall program development, capacity building and support services to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and entrepreneurs. Previously, he worked for 7 years as a top management staff at the Lagos State Water Company in various capacities–operations, comcercial and IT. However, his career started in the oil industry where he spent 12 years. He started as an engineer and rose to the position of national lubricants manager of Elf Oil Nigeria. Trained as a mechanical engineer in the UK with an MBA from IESE Business School in Spain, Mr. Bamkole is also a member of the University Management Council.

Taiwo Ayedun

Mr. TAIWO AYEDUN is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of CR Services (Credit Bureau) Plc. He is regarded as the pioneer and father of private credit bureaus in Nigeria. Taiwo's goal for founding the
company was to promote an environment where working-class Nigerians could obtain easier and faster access to credit to expand their businesses and improve their standards of living.

Taiwo has a background in software and information technology spanning over two decades. Majority of those years were spent in business process re-engineering and large-scale software design, development and implementation at large organizations in the United States.

In December 2001, Taiwo founded CreditRegistry Corporation in the United States and led a team that invented the world’s first credit bureau system with integrated biometrics for consumer identification. The system was piloted among Nigerian banks from March 2002 till November 2003. A credit bureau company - CR Services Limited – was incorporated in January 2003 to serve the Nigerian market; the company began operations in December 2003.

Prior to founding CreditRegistry Taiwo was a cofounder of Line of Business Systems, Inc., in Illinois in 1998. Taiwo was a Senior Consultant in the Consulting Services group at Microsoft Corporation.
At Microsoft, Taiwo worked with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to adopt Microsoft's programming and enterprise server technologies, including Component Object Model (COM), the .NET Framework and SQL Server.

Taiwo believes that consumer and mortgage credit contribute to high GDP growth rates and improved standard of living. His passion is to help lenders and borrowers to establish trust quickly in order to stimulate credit expansion and wealth creation in emerging markets. Prior to receiving a BS degree in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Taiwo studied Aerospace Engineering at Parks College of St. Louis University in Missouri.

Loren Treisman

Loren was employed as the new Trust Executive for The Indigo Trust on October 4th 2010 to coincide with a shift in the Trust’s focus towards using ICT to encourage democratic transparency and support development interventions. She also hopes to stimulate other avenues for development, in the field of ICT4D.

Since completing a PhD in breast cancer research at Cambridge University, Loren has pursued a challenging and varied career. She has managed, developed strategies and consulted on a variety of development projects in East Africa (predominantly Uganda and Tanzania), overseeing the complete project cycle. Her focus has included income generation, transparency, education, youth empowerment, HIV/AIDS, peer education, public health, the environment, human rights, ICT and a variety of other issues.

Loren has also managed a £2.6 million; Big Lottery funded Health Programme at The Foyer Federation and expanded the organization’s research, policy and innovation capacities. She is also currently a Research Associate for Demos, where she conducts social research on a variety of issues, including those impacting upon young people, employment, health and international development.

Loren holds a First Class BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from Birmingham University, where she obtained the top first and gained several awards (John Jinks and Farmer)

Gadi Ben-Yehuda

Gadi Ben-Yehuda is the Social Media Director for The Center for the Business of Government.

Mr. Ben-Yehuda has worked on the Web since 1994, when he received an email from Maya Angelou through his first Web site. He has an MFA in poetry from American University, has taught writing at Howard University, and has worked in Washington, DC, for nonprofits, lobbying organizations, Fleishman-Hillard Global Communications, and Al Gore's presidential campaign.

Prior to his current position, Gadi was a Web Strategist for the District of Columbia's Office of the chief Technology Officer (OCTO). Additionally, Gadi has taught creative, expository, and Web writing for more than 10 years to university students, private-sector professionals, and soldiers, including Marines at the Barracks at 8th and I in Washington, DC. (The lattermost by far the most disciplined.)

Bunmi Lawson

Mrs. Bunmi Lawson is the pioneer Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ACCION Microfinance Bank Limited. ACCION prides itself as a model microfinance bank with unique and well researched products and services to delight its customers. ACCION Microfinance Bank’s led by Bunmi Lawson commenced operations in May 2007 with one branch and 18 staff and has today growth to over 50,000 customers serviced in 11 branches and over 200 staff members. Accion MFB has disbursed over N5bn to date in loans and has total assets of over N1.8bn. Its shareholders are ACCION Investments, Citibank, Ecobank, International Finance Corporation, SME Managers and Zenith Bank

Mrs. Lawson holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the IESE Business School, University of Navarra and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and has attended several courses both locally and internationally at renowned institutions including Harvard Business School and INSEAD. She has presented several lectures locally and internationally in Microfinance and other areas of capacity building for small scale industries and young entrepreneurs, SME Financing as well as been part of special workgroups on various topics bothering on several aspects of the Nigerian economy.

Prior to joining ACCION, Bunmi was the Executive Director of FATE Foundation Ltd/Gte, a leading business development service provider, a co-owner and Executive Director of VLA Lawrence & Associates, a leading Human Resources services organization and has over 23 years post graduate experience in finance, insurance, marketing and auditing.

She is a mother with 2 lovely children.

Yahaya Maibe

Yahaya Maibe is CEO and co-founder of Funmobile Nigeria. He has vast experience in information technology, investment banking and sales leadership. He has worked for several top notch companies including Afrinvest West Africa and HRI Managers Limited. He is on the board of several Nigerian companies and is actively engaged in many social and political causes. He has been active on the political scene and ran twice for a seat in the Nigerian National Assembly. Yahaya is a member of the Nigeria 2025 Scenarios team, an initiative of Leap Africa and the Africa Leadership Institute. He holds a bachelors degree in sociology from the University of Essex and a masters degree in development studies from the University of London. He co-founded Funmobile in 2006.
