1. Microsoft Developer Bootcamp


    Microsoft has launched the Africa Apps team, a group of Developer Platform Evangelists, to work with software developers in Nigeria, Ghana and Africa at large. The team is made up of experts on Microsoft technologies such as Visual Studio, Kinect, Windows Azure, Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, Bing Search and Open Source technology all dedicated to helping African developers build, scale and market their innovations across the World.

    There will be training tracks covering Microsoft Azure, Windows Phone, and of course Windows 8. Interested participants are advised to register for individual tracks to enable them make the most of the the training sessions. Here is a breakdown what to expect at the event.

  3. Nokia & Co-creation Hub open applications for Growth Academy


    Lagos, Nigeria, September 24, 2012

    Leading phone manufacturing company, Nokia in partnership with foremost social innovation centre in Nigeria, Co-creation Hub (CcHUB) has embarked on an academy program called ‘Nokia/CcHUB Growth Academy’ aimed at accelerating top Nigerian mobile software companies in growing their companies on regional and international levels.

    Having successfully completed a pilot, we invite applications for this first of its kind business accelerator program in Africa dedicated to providing intensive continuous hands-on support to help early stage mobile technology start-ups grow into high growth businesses and build world class mobile applications for the Nokia platform regionally and globally.

    The three (3) month intensive program runs in three parts i.e. Capacity building, Product development and Launch. Each start-up undergoes hands-on prototype development and structured training with modules such as business model development, project implementation plan and lean product development. Tailored technical training and support will be provided by Futurice, a global training organization with expertise in mobile application development and user driven design.

    During product development each start-up is complemented with the best of resources i.e. one-on-one mentorship from experienced tech entrepreneurs with a strong understanding of the African market, project implementation plan; and market research support to ensure that solutions meet specific market needs.

    The last phase of the program is dedicated to product testing, pilot launch and value redesign based on initial customer feedback. Each start-up will also pitch at an open Pitchfest to the wider community and investors as part of the final product launch.

    Who are we looking for?

    • Start-ups with brilliant ideas to address market needs in finance, education, healthcare, agriculture, small business development, environment, inclusive technology, entertainment.
    • Have developed a working prototype in Java ME (J2ME)
    • Have at least 2 core members, including a lead developer
    • Be willing to commit 3 full months to developing their idea on the program
